I am a huge sparkling water drinker. I prefer sparkling over still, which is why I fell in love with Spiked Seltzer. There is much debate over the superior sparkling water. (haters gonna hate, but I prefer Pellegrino or Perrier over La Criox) I've heard great things about Schweppes, so I might check that brand out. Anyway, over Thanksgiving this year, I brought a case of Spiked Seltzer with me to Kiawah Island. I have heard great things about it and thought it would be the perfect drink for the beach.
While at Kiawah Island, I have a drink in my hand 99% of the time, whether its iced coffee, hot coffee, or Pellegrino. Sparkling water by day, hard sparkling water by night. Spiked Seltzer is clean and crisp without the sugary sweetness of a cocktail or the heaviness of beer. In fact, you can barely taste any alcohol - just fresh, bubbly goodness. I couldn't believe I had never stumbled upon it, but there's a reason for that... it wasn't even created!
It's refreshing, fruity, and portable. It comes in bottles and cans, but I prefer a can when I head out to ride my bike on the beach because it fits right into my medium LL Bean Boat n' Tote. It comes in four flavors: Indian River Grapefruit, Valencia Orange, Cape Cod Cranberry, and West Indies Lime. My personal favorite is Cape Cod Cranberry. Mainly because I'm partial to one of my favorite drinks, the Cape Codder (vodka, cranberry, lime).
For night time, I'll usually pour it over ice (the colder the better) or use it as a base for a cocktail. On their website, they have a bunch of cocktail recipes using the various flavors. A simple way to elevate your go-to vodka soda.
