Floral and Formal

I've been getting some questions about formal/prom dresses. I love when you guys ask questions. Keep em coming!! Side note: I'm thinking about doing a Q&A session on the blog. Send all questions to, Snapchat (@tayloraanthony), or Instagram (@collegecaffeinated). While I am not in a sorority and don't have events/socials/dances/formals every weekend like most universities, my school does have a yearly formal dance. I thought I would share my formal dress that I wore this past month and round up some others that I love for any occasion.

I am very picky about long dresses. I like a certain style, and it can be hard to find one that is sophisticated and conservative yet modern. I wore this Betsy and Adam Printed Two-Piece gown, just in a different pattern and had the thick straps rather than thin. I wish I went to more events where a long dress is required such as galas or fancy weddings. There is nothing like the elegance of a gown.

I would never describe myself as someone who would gravitate towards crop tops, let alone a formal crop top dress. The dress I am wearing is elegant and formal, but extremely comfortable and easy to wear. It appears to be crop top, but is in fact all one piece. The top is made of a stretch jersey material, the middle part is mesh, and the skirt is a floral satin material. I went with very minimal jewelry and accessories, black pumps, pearl earrings, my emerald ring, and a black headband.

As for sizing, it runs true to size. I am wearing a size 6. The length is perfect with heels. I could honestly size down if it weren't for my height. I just look for a dress that fits perfectly, even if it has to be tailored. Look good, feel good. I don't want to be constantly adjusting the dress and worrying about it. In my opinion, a well-fitting dress makes all the difference. The perfect dress is one that fits and feels perfect rather than looks perfect. Tips? Avoid crazy patterns, materials, colors, and cutouts. The might be cool right now, but looking back 10 years down the road, they will so out of style.

Most of the dresses I linked are solid, classic, and can be worn for almost any occasion, but I have also included some fun and "trendy" ones.

One // Two // Three
Four // Five // Six // Seven

Have you attended your formal yet? What did you wear?!
