Layering for a Chilly Spring Break

Ohhhh how I wish I could tell you all I was going on a fabulous spring break, somewhere warm and tropical.

Unfortunately, because of my internship, I don't get a week off for spring break. In college, they give you all this time off for leisure, they forget to remind you that this just doesn't exist in the real world. The only thing that sort of makes it better is that the weather is unseasonable coooold. March is so unpredictable in the south. Sometimes it's warmer like April, and other years its an extension of February. Everyone I knew who went to the beach said it was chilly. It had just started feeling like spring, then this week, we were hit with 30 degree weather! Layering is definitely key.

I recently went to the beach in the fall, but it was in Charleston, and the weather on the South Carolina coast is a bit chillier than the Florida coast. I am not one to lay out for hours tanning/swimming. I would much rather read, play Frisbee, or bike on the beach. So this trip to the beach is basically what I would do if I was on spring break this week.

HOW cute is this magazine cover? They say don't judge a book by its cover, but this Garden &Gun magazine cover is absolutely adorable. It's a Charleston-based magazine that covers the best of the South, including the sporting culture, the food, the music, the art, the literature, the people and their ideas. My kind of magazine! It's honestly one of my favorites, second to Town & Country, of course. I'm doing a post later about my favorite magazines, so be on the lookout!

As far as the clothes, I tend to layer up on the beach. That way I am set if it gets windy or hot. I opted for crop jeans, a gingham tank, and a RL cable-knit. I've talked about cable-knits time and time again, but I just love how easy it is to throw one on. I rarely leave the house without one. Especially now that the weather is so unpredictable. I always bring loafers to the beach, because the sand isn't powdery in South Carolina, its much more dense and hard, so sand doesn't get everywhere (which is so nice). These are similar Sperry ones. The ones pictures are my favorite. I have them in two colors, and I especially love the thick soles and fringe. It sets them apart from other loafers, in my opinion. Sadly, Sperry discontinued them, but fingers crossed that something similar reappears!

Side Note: HAPPY ST.PATRICKS DAY!! I love green, but it's important to wear the right shade. There are definitely some ugly shades of green; however, when done right, it can be worn year-round. I usually wear kelly green for spring/summer and hunter green for fall/winter. Apparently, it's the 2017 color of the year, so it's not going anywhere anytime soon!  Who knew there were so many adorable green things! Here are my favorites, and they are also in the sidebar that I will keep up through March! Also, there is so much green on the homepage!! So festive of me, I know.
Have a wonderful day!
