Sadly, it's true. There just aren't a whole lot of places to get them in Georgia. I found out that it was National Macaron Day on March 20th: aka the first day of Spring, aka the day I was going to be in NYC!!
A whole day dedicated to some of the best macarons in the world? Yes, please.
Bakeries across the city joined together to raise awareness and money for City Harvest which provides food to soup kitchens and food pantries around New York. Over 20 bakeries participated, and you got a free macaron from each of them.
I, naturally, wanted to try them all. Due to only having a few hours to sightsee that day, I only hit three of them: Lauduree, Francois Payard, and La Maison du Chocolat. I got a few free ones, but they were so good that I had to buy a pack of them from Lauduree.
They are basically my new favorite food. I could easily eat 10 in one sitting, but being around $2.75 each, I can't just eat them like popcorn.
#blessed that I was in NYC on National Macaron Day
